ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review difficult bank reconciliations, review assigned accounting engagements.
  • Prepare: work papers, quarterly payroll tax returns and property tax reports, compiled and reviewed financial statements with footnote disclosures, monthly client invoices, federal and state income tax returns (i.e. 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040 & 1041), other reports/projects as assigned.
  • Process more complicated financial reporting engagements (multi-location, multi-firm).
  • Assist with and/or complete year-end tax planning.
  • Perform various procedures established under accepted accounting principles required under SSARS standards to perform a compilation or review.
  • Coordinate phases of engagements including planning engagements, set budgets for time and expenses and monitor actual performance against budget; meet time budgets and client deadlines.
  • Direct and instruct staff, where applicable, in work to be performed and work paper preparation.
  • Research IRS notices and prepare routine correspondence to client for approval and signature of a partner; proactively research and address tax issues in order to resolve them.
  • Provide training to client's personnel for various accounting software packages.
  • Perform controller-by-the-hour work at client's office.
  • Participate in firm's practice development efforts including expanding services to clients; attend various business development/marketing activities.
  • Update the status of the projects to partners weekly.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree with a focus in Accounting or comparable (3-5 years) public accounting experience.
  • CPA license in good standing or CPA candidate actively pursuing testing or educational requirements to test.- Preferred: 3-5 years of public accounting experience demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed; or 3-5 years' experience in related industry.
  • Current knowledge of accounting software a plus (QuickBooks; CCH ProSystems, Axcess, Engagement; Microsoft Excel etc).
  • Ability to prioritize and perform assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to analyze complex accounting issues.
  • Ability to prepare business and individual income tax returns in an efficient and effective manner with minimal supervision.
  • Current knowledge to prepare GAAP and SPF financial statements including disclosures.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate orally and in writing with clients, taxing authorities, partners and peers.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and use discretion in dealing with client matters.
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence while at the client's office.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Occasional in-town travel to meetings, seminars and client's office using personal vehicle.
  • Occasional overtime hours required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work required during January through April; may be in excess of 50 hours a week.
  • Compensation based on 2300 total working hours annually (inclusive of PTO, training, holidays etc).
  • Currently we are requiring staff to be in-person at the office (Dallas, TX) part-time, with potential to work from home/remotely part-time.
